Town of Mono

Relessey United ChurchIn its varied landscape of escarpment, villages and tree-covered rolling hills Mono is the source of three rivers; the Humber and Credit that flow to Lake Ontario and the Nottawasaga that bends north to Georgian Bay.  It is an escape from urban crush, where city folk have country homes.  Many of these who began visiting on weekends have moved here to establish new roots.  Families whose names arrived with the first European settlers operate busy farms on land that may have been cleared by their ancestors.  The Niagara Escarpment and Bruce Trail wander through.  Mono Cliffs Provincial Park shows their rugged beauty and in the midst of this wildness are oases of civilization and culture… in the Hockley Valley.  Mono is singular in many ways but its name is pronounced mow-no.
